imported 30 jpegs into my library and converted each to a symbol.
When I pr
essed either CTRL+ENTER or PUBLISH, it works. When I added
another 30 jpegs and converted to a symbol, both CTRL+ENTER and
PUBLISH d
id not work.
When I tried to delete the jpegs and its corresponding
symbols, both CTRL+ENTER and PUBLISH still did not work. Even if I
reached on
e jpeg already, still did not work.
What is wrong?
Both CTRL+ENTER and PUBLISH not working
maybe there was a corrupt jpg file in there somewhere? try to
do a save as and save your file under a new file name. This will
delete the undo information on the new file. This sometimes also
happens if the swf file is locked or set to read onlyBoth CTRL+ENTER and PUBLISH not working
Hi Tom,
I appreciate your time. Yes, I did that too. I used 'Save
AS'. When I started from scratch again, everything works. But
everytime I added more, my problems occurs.
I am interested in what you have mentioned about 'locking' or
'read only'. How can I check that? Maybe that is the cause of my
problem. Also, how can I avoid that?
Thanks.
if you right click on the swf file and choose properties, you
can check if it is somehow being set to read only. also, are you
working off an external drive or a network drive? sometimes that
causes file corruption.
a corrupted jpg might also be the culprit.
1. I will start from scratch again Tom because I deleted the
swf file already. It is not re-creating if you have problems with
CTRL+ENTER and Publish. I will let know the status. Thanks.
2. Sorry, I have no idea how a jpeg becomes corrupted. When I
checked each jpeg in Photoshop, I didnt see any problems. What I
will do Tom is to have a trial and error testing for each jpeg by :
- importing it to the library
- convert it to symbol
- do Publish or CTRL+ENTER
I will let know the status.Thanks.
Hi Tom,
I started from scratch again to create an swf file. The swf
file is not on a 'Read-Only' status. I noticed, it was the folder
that is on Read-only. I click it in order to remove the 'Read
only'. I clicked 'Apply' and selected 'Apply changes to this
folder, subfolders and files'. Then click OK. When I right-clicked
on the folder, it went back to 'ReadOnly'. How to permanently
remove this? Im losing hope.
I even gave myself, Full control to this folder.
Please take note that I'm using VISTA Business, 2GB memory.
I have seen somewhere about saving the FLA file. I did save
it using 'Save As'. Then press CTRL+ENTER and PUBLISH. Both are not
working after adding to 50 files. You are right, one of these jpegs
is corrupt. But I used one jpeg at a time, and everything seems to
work. What else shall do? Thanks in advanced for any help provided.
Hi Tom,
I think there were no corrupted jpeg files on my folder. I
started with 35 jpegs and convert each to symbol. The CTRL+ENTER
and PUBLISH did work. When I added the 36th to 55th jpegs, the
CTRL+ENTER and PUBLISH did not work. I started from scratch again
and used the 36th to 55th jpegs only.I mean, I did not use the 1st
to the 35th jpeg file. The CTRL+ENTER and PUBLISH did work.
So now, we are thinking of the 'Read-Only' issue on my
previous email awhile ago. But the folder I was using (for the
folder on the example above), is on 'Read-Only'. The swf file is
not 'Read-Only'. I think, the 'Read-only' and corrupted files are
not the culprit here.
Everytime I increase and imported the jpeg files into my
library, the problem occurs. Is there an option that will tell me
about the maximum size for the library?
I tried 'Save and Compact'. The fla file decreases its size.
But it didnt solve my problem. Shall I use Flash 8 instead of FLASH
CS3? what else to check?
Any help would be greatly appreciaated. Thanks in advanced
mate !!!!
I am not sure why your folder becomes ''read only'' but can you
try to export to a different location? you can do file %26gt; export
%26gt; export movie. choose let's say the desktop and see if the swf
file will be generated and not cause Flash to crash.
upload the FLA - never heard of this issue before - could be
Vista-specific.

Yes, Chris, you might be right. it happened in my project(not
related to Flash) when I moved from XP to VISTA. Our program picks
up some information from text files. So, in VISTA, I put all the
text files in Drive C. When I ran my program, it didnt work.
Previously in XP, it worked. To solve this in VISTA, what I did was
to create a folder in drive C and put my text files there. I gave
myself full control of that folder. Then it works. Maybe the
culprit is VISTA. VIsta doesn't want you to use the drive C unless
you create a folder. (I think so)
Tom,
I will try that later and let you know.
Hi Tom,
I tried that Export Movie, and it didnt work.
The read-only you were telling me is like this. The checkbox
has a blue color on it. When you click that, the blue color went
out. When you click it again, the 'check' comes out. But when I was
on the situation that it went out and click Apply, the blue color
keeps on coming back. I think, that is not in 'Read-only' state. It
only becomes 'Read-only' state is if there is a check on the
checkbox.
I think Chris is correct. There is something to do with
VISTA.
damn that's frustrating - i haven't upgraded to vista so i
cant really help - i have heard too many
issues with vista - some report nothing but good things - but
there seems to be a lot of security
issues implemented into the OS that makes it a pretty tough
environment to work in.

Been using Vista Ultimate for months now, and never had this
problem. Yes, I've had many other problems, but never had a problem
with Flash. Why aren't the image files just being put in the same
folder as your FLA? The permissions of the file, as in, 'Read-Only'
and such, won't affect you in your situation. If you would like to
zip up your FLA and
all the images in a folder, post a link, I will take a look
tonight.
Hi Chris,
It is frustrating. I search google regarding Flash vs Vista
and I saw a lot of articles and issues.
Hi dzedward,
Im doing a flipping catalogue project. I bought a Flash
component. The original setup was that the images were on a
separate folder. It worked. But when I asked the person (He can't
help me with my problem because he is still using XP.) whom I
bought the component, about how to just create one swf file or exe,
he told me to import all my images to my library and convert each
of them to symbol. First it worked on my first 70 jpegs. But when I
increased it, CTRL+ENTER or PUBLISH just didnt work. It was
unpredictable. I mean, I just noticed,when I started to a certain
number of imported jpegs, everything was working. But, but, but
everytime you increase another set of imported jpegs, both
CTRL+ENTER or PUBLISH will just stop working. The problem is that
it is not allowing you to increase anymore once you finish your
project. That is waht I noticed.
I think I need to limit my imported files to a certain
number. I will keep on trying until someone here from the forum
give me the solution.
Thanks anyone for taking your time in helping me. You've been
great !!!
