DW CS3 crashes on a simple code

Hi, all!

My DW CS3 crashes on the next code in editor mode - try to
create such file and then open it and place the cursor into the
select.

test.php

%26lt;head%26gt;

%26lt;/head%26gt;

%26lt;body%26gt;

%26lt;form id=''form1'' name=''form1'' method=''post'' action=''''%26gt;

%26lt;select name=''select'' id=''select''%26gt;

?%26gt;

%26lt;/select%26gt;

I can confirm this. Yours is the latest in a series of
reports that I

have seen about CS3 crashing when PHP code is placed in a
select

element. According to one report, this has started happening
only since

the change back to winter time in Europe.

I haven't verified the time-change issue, but I have also
checked code

from my book ''The Essential Guide to Dreamweaver CS3''. It is
also

causing Dreamweaver CS3 to crash, but this happens only on
Windows, not

on a Mac. The suspicion, therefore, is that it could well
have been

triggered by a change in Windows. I'll try to get in touch
with the

Dreamweaver team.

Nope - no crash. Clicking anywhere on the page, either in
Code view or

Design view has no detrimental effect for me.

Hi there

Just changed the date back to Saturday 27th as suggested and
this has solved the problem for my ASP code. Its got to be linked
to the time change then. It's not ideal, but at least this solution
lets us get on with our work until a fix is in place!!!

Thanks Eyeness!

Change your system clock to a European time zone.

I am also having this issue on windows vista ultimate, it has
only arisen since the clocks have changed. Hopefully there will be
a fix for this soon. I'm resorting to ultradedit for the time
being.

There will only be a fix if people actually talk to Adobe and
report the

problem. The more people that report it the more likely Adobe
are to fix

it.

This is a user to user forum, Adobe won't post here, they may
well read

it if one of the excellent Adobe Community Experts ask them
to.

Bottom line, if you are having a problem which is fixed by
changing your

system date, go to Adobe support and report the problem.

It has been reported directly to the Dreamweaver development
team, which

is currently working on the issue.

Please fix this by

1. Closing Dreamweaver

2. Set your clock to the correct time if it isn't already so

3. delete WinFileCache*.dat from

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your username]\Application
Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration

4. Start Dreamweaver and use it as usually

Thanks
Any idea where this particular file is located in vista? I've
looked in all of the obvious places but can't see anything.

Edit:

After some poking around in vista a bit more i found it in

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration

Delete the wincache file as above and everything returned to
normal.

It's in a hidden folder, so you need to enable View hidden
files and

folders (Start %26gt; Computer %26gt; Organize %26gt; Folder and
Search Options).

The file itself is located at

C:\Users\%26lt;username%26gt;\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration.

This fixed my problem as well - was editing asp in CS3 on Win
XP Pro.

Just suddenly started happening today for no apparent reason.
Would crash as soon as I put my cursor on code in the code window.

Thanks so much... was driving me crazy!!
Fixed it for me too in DW CS3 on WinXP Pro -- this had become
maddening very quickly -- crashed on every edit to a JSP file in
code view.
Hi Gary

Do your ASP files have dynamic select tags (dynamic drop down
menus)? Can

you post your code? I can get PHP pages with dynamic drop
downs to crash,

but I can't get ASP pages with dynamic drop downs to crash.

Thanks,
