Header box without using frames

I am new to Web design and was initially attracted
by Frame sets as it seemed easier to create control functions for
any selected main frame page. I then read a number of books on Web
design and all, without exception, castigated the use of Frame Sets
as being very amateurish, in the same way GoTo was treated with
contempt in other programming languages. My problem is that I have
been asked to overhaul an existing web site and, in one area, the
original designer created a membership page for the association. He
used Alphabetical and County href links to initiate search for
members. However, no Go To Top button was provided if the searcher
choose incorrectly. I have introduced a Sidebar with appropriately
positioned Go To Top links, but I feel it is not the best way to do
this and would like to place a single Go To Top button which
scrolls down the page wherever the link chooses to go. I can find
no way to do this in HTML or CSS. Can anybody help a complete
rabbit as to a suitable methodology. Many thanks MikeHeader box without using frames

Header box without using frames
Hi Alan,

Thank you for your prompt reply, which gave me avenues for
research, but I could not find an obvious web site that would
provide the 'rabbit' like me information! I went to the Exchange
link that you posted, but a search for 'Persistent Layer' did not
produce a return.

Is it possibly an Adobe extension that you are referring to?
Could you possibly give me an example of the code necessary to
produce this Persistent Layer. Is it necessary to create a CSS
style sheet, to initiate the Persistent Layer. If you could point
me to an Adobe Tutorial that deals with this Layer Technique I
could maybe gain some knowledge. I have got the Adobe Dreamwaever
CS3 Bible, but I can find no reference to this technique in the
index!

In anticipation, may I thank you for your help

Best regards

Mike
