Possible solution to the mysterious...

I have just been contacted by an Adobe engineer trying to get
to the

bottom of the mysterious crashes that appear to be connected
with the

clock change in Europe. Try deleting the

WinFileCache[series_of_random_numbers].dat file in your
configuration

folder.

On Win XP, it's located at:

C:\Documents and Settings\%26lt;username%26gt;\Application
Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver

9\Configuration

In Vista, it's at:

C:\Users\%26lt;username%26gt;\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration

After removing the WinFileCache, scripts that previously
crashed

Dreamweaver CS3 acted normally again.

This *appears* to be the solution, but has not yet been
officially

confirmed.

Possible solution to the mysterious...
I have tried this solution. It works.

I have all my files back and at last I'm happy. Will pass
this onto the guys at work tomorrow morning.

Look forward to the more permanent fix.

Can confirm this works here too (Win XP).

Thanks David !
Now how about the crashes that are happening on my
Mac?

Good.

I suspect that this is the ''permanent'' fix. It appears that
the clock

change corrupted the WinFileCache.dat file. Why? Search me.
Will it

happen next clock change? Goodness knows.

I have been working with Adobe engineers to solve this
problem. It

appears that they cannot reproduce it by switching an
American system to

the European time zone. What does seem to happen, though, is
that

clearing the WinFileCache.dat file on an affected system does
solve the

problem.

I would call it a permanent workaround for now. It's not
fixed.

Most likely, because this is definitely a bug. Generally
spoken it's

quite possible that a clock change may invalidate certain
cache entries

or other entities in a particular system (not only DW, such
things might

happen anywhere), but it should _never_ lead to a critical
situation or

even a total crash.

It might not work, but crashes are often caused by a corrupt
cache file.

On a Mac, it's called MacFileCache[numbers].dat. Delete the
file, and

restart DW. It can be found in the following locations:

Dreamweaver CS3 on Macintosh:

Mac HD/Users/[user]/Library/Application
Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 9/

Dreamweaver 8 on Macintosh:

Mac HD/Users/[user]/Library/Application
Support/Macromedia/Dreamweaver 8/

Hi Guys,

I also ran into this problem, and I'm located in Florida. I
found out that after I uninstalled the the DDTB extension and
reninstalled it that everything worked fine again. Although it does
take a while for the uninstall to complete. (About 45 minutes)

Jedi
DDTB?

You ran into this problem one week later than we did in
Europe because

the clock change took place one week later in the USA. The
solution is

the removal of the WinFileCache-********.dat file, a process
that takes

a couple of minutes, and no reinstallation.

guess he麓s referring to Dreamweaver Developer ToolBox,
otherwise known as ADDT ;-)
Strange thing is - I didn't experience that with CS3
today....

Try using the code below in a new PHP file. You should see
the crash, if

you didn't already delete your FileCache.dat file. From what
we've seen so

far, the crashes are limited to PHP files with dynamic list
menus.

We can reproduce the problem with PHP files, but we're not
able to reproduce

the problem with ASP files or any other file types. Can
people that are

seeing this problem with non-PHP files post their code so we
can reproduce

the problem here?

Thanks,
